Millennial Luxury Home Buyers - Part 2

Millennial homebuyers are coming up in the real estate world, and just as much so in the luxury home market. They are a busy generation, and at the current ages (between 21 and 37 years old) they are both equally buying their first homes, or even buying luxury vacation homes at Lake of the Ozarks, for example. Millennials often take a bit of flack from the previous generations, but they are certainly emerging on the market, and they are looking to be even more successful than the generations before them. As they get older, they are looking for new investments, fun projects, ways to make memories, and maybe even a luxury vacation home at the Lake of the Ozarks. Here are a few things Millennials seem to be looking for in the luxury market. This is the second installment of our series, you can view part 1 here: Millennial Luxury Home Buyers - Part 1.

Home Office

This last month has shown how valuable it is to have a private home office - but Millennials were looking for this way before COVID19 came up. If you want to appeal to this generation of home buyers, you can design plenty of rooms in your home to be easily transitional between bedrooms, offices, media rooms, and more. Working from home is becoming incredibly popular, especially for millennials who are looking for both successes in work and family.

Enjoy The Outdoors

Many Millennials are looking for beautiful and cultivated spaces where they can enjoy the outdoors, get some privacy, and even entertain their guests. This means that they will probably be looking for exceptional outdoor kitchens, spacious patios, covered pergolas, and garden spaces that are beautifully landscaped. If you want to invest in your million dollar property at the Lake of the Ozarks, start with the outdoor spaces. Millennials want to make memories with their friends and family, and at the Lake, the outdoors are going to be the prime location to invest in.

Lakefront Pools

While we’re talking about the outdoors, millennials are also looking for those luxurious pools with all of the bells and whistles. Hot tubs, lights, ornate tile surfaces, outdoor showers and pool houses, a breathtaking view, plenty of space on the pool deck, and more. You are likely to find these features already included in the luxury homes, but if the pool is dated, you may want to upgrade it before listing your home. What are a few specific details that millennials may want? An infinity edge, lap pools, waterfalls, and obviously adjoining outdoors spaces like a fire pit. It doesn’t hurt if you also have an easy path down to the dock with a complete set up for fishing, boat storage, and water toys available as well.

Open Kitchens

The open layouts are incredibly popular right now, but in kitchens especially. Not only does the kitchen need to be open, but it needs to have incredible amenities that make it easy to show off. The heart of the home is the kitchen, and many millennials are using it as a space to entertain and wow their guests. This means that many millennials are searching for inclusions like wine cellars, pizza ovens, fancy coffee machine setups, tech-savvy kitchens, and more.
