Every year, the design gurus take look at what’s hitting the market and give us a peek at what we can expect next year.
Luxury homes at the Lake of the Ozarks are on point with design, colors schemes, materials and more. Many homeowners hire the best interior designers around, flying them in from other states like Utah, Iowa, Colorado, and Illinois. There are even designers closer to home in big cities like St. Louis and Kansas City. If you’re ready for a redesign in your luxury home at the Lake of the Ozarks, here are a few things that you’ll see trending in the next few months.
Green With Envy
Green is a really hot color right now. Last year we saw lots of matte black and dark finishes. Those tones aren't going anywhere, but they are transitioning to a beautiful shade of green along with them. The coined term is “Night watch green.” But you will also be seeing hunter green appearing more in trendy publications. If changing the color of your whole room to this shade is too much, you can pull it in with accents and textiles. Think of dark green rugs against beautiful marble floors, and velvet chairs in the same shade.
Statement Ceilings
Accent walls will probably never leave completely, but there’s something new hitting the market. Statement ceilings. They started making a comeback last year, but they are really coming in hot this year. Ornate ceilings were a big deal back in the 20’s but they haven’t really made much of a comeback since. From painted and lacquered to wallpapered and molding covered ceilings, nothing is off limits! If you have large vaulted ceilings you can really take this trend to the next level. Even in rooms with the standard ceiling, you can make use of patterns and colors to make a ceiling stand out.
Bold Patterns
There is always a trendy and bold pattern that becomes *the* pattern to use. In the next few months, you’ll notice that geometric and tribal patterns are going to be showing up in luxury homes around the country. These patterns provide a symmetrical harmony that will always keep them coming back year after year in some form. Tribal patterns also come back every decade or so as the tastes change. There’s something about the warmth and welcoming feel of an effectively used pattern in your home. Even if you don’t want to go all out and use it on your wall coverings and furniture, you can introduce it through the accents like pillows, rugs, and framed prints.
Eco-Friendly
The environment is becoming an increasingly hot topic. People are doing what they can to leave less of a footprint, and this also includes the way a home is decorated and designed. This doesn’t just stop with energy-saving appliances, but it spreads to having live plants in your home. There are more and more fabricators who are designing beautiful pieces out of what would have been considered “leftover,” or finding new and effective ways to create a look without leaving as much of an impact.
